Synthetic Biology and Metabolic Engineering
1.Biosynthesis of High-Value Bio-Based Compounds, Pharmaceuticals, and Materials
·Developed microbial cell factories (e.g., E. coli, Corynebacterium glutamicum, yeast) using metabolic engineering and synthetic biology techniques.
·Key Achievements: Achieved world-leading fermentation yields for engineered strains producing L-threonine, 3-hydroxypropionic acid, and ectoine.
2.Design of Novel Biological Systems and Mechanistic Studies in Synthetic Biology
·Engineered genetic circuits and created polyploid prokaryotic model organisms (e.g., E. coli) to construct high-performance chassis cells.
·Investigated fundamental mechanisms of chromosomal ploidy evolution.
·Key Achievements: Pioneered artificial polyploid strains of E. coli and C. glutamicum.
3.Design and Construction of Synthetic Biology Regulatory Elements and Devices
·Developed synthetic biology components (e.g., quorum sensing-based biosensors), genetic circuits, and logic gates systems.
·Key Achievements: Successfully designed and implemented synthetic biology tools including logic gates, cascade circuits, and population oscillators.
